NEW -*- OLDER

I was offered $500 for an art piece that's on display in a public place today.
I declined it, because I marked it at $750.
It's no longer about the money, or whether it gets sold, or even if it's worth that much. I'm refusing on principle.
I am the artist, I spent 80 + hours on that piece, and was my concept entirely. Who is ANYONE to tell me it's worth less than what I say it is? I just don't appreciate someone else trying to bargain with me, to get a better deal. I don't care if I'm sounding too proud or too arrogant.
It just makes me mad. It makes me feel they think they're better than me, if they feel they can offer a lower price than what's on it, and expect me to agree that it's not worth as much as I say it is.
It's insulting.
And ridiculous, considering the place that it's being displayed in involves "Public" who earn more in a week than I do in a year. What's $750 to them? And if my work is less than what they think, then why don't they find someone else who'll do it for them more cheaply?
Fuck it. I'm quite happy if it never sells.
