So. Today I got my left nipple pierced. For aesthetic reasons, mainly. I'd been doing some research for a theory assignment on the history of body piercing, and I'd seen some really pretty nipple rings....the idea had been filtering in the back of my mind for about a week, so today I took the plunge. It hurt about as much as I expected - a fair amount. My heart was beating a million times an hour, as the piercer was happy to point out as her hand rested on my left breast. "Your heart must be on the left, because I can feel it beating more here than on the right..." I might have found it a little more reassuring if my piercer had had a basic grasp of general human anatomical points, but anyway... It's been kind of aching ever since, but I don't regret it. People have been really shocked when they've found out, saying they didn't expect it of me. I find that surprising; I've always liked body piercings. I've had 3 holes in each ear for years, my belly ring since I was 17, and now this. They're all for because-they're-pretty reasons, not for any statement of any kind. For those voyuers seeking proof that I actually did it...here
